Jimmy's Pick N Grin Music Hall ~Andrews, NC

Steve Jordan on fiddle

Steve Jordan, long time resident of Andrews, NC and bluegrass and country musician, has decided to open a music hall. A casual place for local musicians to come and play and with 4000 sq. ft it offers a good stompin and skootin’ dance floor. Steve doesn’t want it to be stereotyped as only bluegrass because he enjoys playing country too. Not only a singer and guitar player himself, but also a fiddler who can play just about anything with strings. He regularly plays around the region at several other venues. He built the hall in Andrews in honor of his dad; the late Jimmy Jordan who passed in June two years ago. So “Jimmy’s Pick N Grin” is a fitting name. Jimmy Jordan, born and raised in Robbinsville, NC, grew up playing music. He was soft spoken with a wide grin and a cheerful friend to many.

He used to play guitar with Bill & Wilma and the Snowbird Mountain Boys,

he played with Carl Story, known as the father of “Gospel Bluegrass” and many others well known in the region. He often spoke of the good times he had playing over in Knoxville Tennessee for the “Cas Walker Radio Show”. Like his dad, Steve Jordan believes in “bein’ good to people,” and doesn’t care where he plays music... he just loves to play.

When Jimmy Sr. saw that Steve, as a young child, took an interest in playing the fiddle he encouraged him to stay with it and enjoyed the accompaniment while he mostly sang and played the guitar. Nowadays, Steve has found his voice and alternates pretty regularly from guitar to fiddle as it suits him. The Jordan's welcome any music lovers and boot skooters to mosey in and sit a spell, or if you bring an instrument and can play a lick - come on up and join in!
